New application-oriented research project at FZD

2022/02/01

On February 1, 2022, the project “TarA” (short for Test Effort Reduction AEB) started at FZD in the context of a cooperation with a tier one supplier.

The project aims to improve the efficiency of the testing strategy for automatic emergency braking systems.

Currently, such systems must be tested in real traffic over very long test distances per vehicle application before a proof of safety can be provided. In the scope of this project, different approaches to improve the value of the test results for a proof of safety relative to the test mileage will be investigated, further developed and compared.

TarA offers an excellent opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the state of research regarding the approval of automated driving functions, which also has great potential to become state of the art in the near future due to the direct support of tier one supplier.

Two research associates are working on the project at FZD, Malte Schrimpf and Daniel Betschinske.
