Tongji Summer School

Since 2010, FZD and the School of Automotive Studies of the Tongji University Shanghai have a lively student exchange, which has been extended by a double master degree program in 2011 and by a fast track master program in 2018.
To further strengthen this relationship, 12 students and two accompanying persons were invited to FZD to visit the “Tongji Summer School” at the TU Darmstadt from 07.08. to 17.08.2019. Beside getting to know the city of Darmstadt and the University, the Institute of Automotive Engineering in particular was presented, including its research and testing facilities as well as current lectures and research work. Various cultural events, including visits to different automotive and technology museums, deepened the students’ understanding of the German culture and automotive history. In joint workshops, the students exchanged their experiences gained in Germany and, among other things, worked out the cultural and career differences between China and Germany as well as various topics on the automobile. The response of the students showed great satisfaction with the organization and contents of the event as well as the enthusiasm to further deal with automotive-related research topics; eventually during an exchange visit to TU Darmstadt. Altogether, the first “Tongji Summer School” at FZD has been completed successfully!
